TUTORING

M.O.M. Math LLC offers tutoring sessions to students in K-8 and Algebra 1. During tutoring sessions, Erin works with students to develop goals and track their progress towards achieving these goals. Erin also works with parents and guardians to foster a student's sense of ownership over their learning and ways to empower students to advocate for themselves as learners in the math classroom! 

Our math tutoring approach is personalized to meet the learning needs of your child with the goal of promoting mastery over memorization.  This means that in addition to helping students understand the steps to solve a problem to do well on a test, we we also want to promote mastery and deep understanding of math concepts.  For example, instead of just having students memorize the formula for finding the slope of a line, we also want students to understand the meaning of slope, examples of slope in the real world, and why slope is important. We want students to be able to recall concepts throughout their math careers rather than just memorizing an algorithm to pass a test.

PARENT SESSIONS

Erin is available to work with parents to help them support their young mathematicians. This can range from deepening your understanding of the "new" math strategies to providing tips and strategies for supporting your child in taking ownership of their math learning.  

This service is available for one family or a group of families.
